Frames!

So you start with any light weight (not so expensive) frame – I use Ikea frames mostly.

Choose any color of an acrylic paint and start painting with the help of a foam brush (it comes in different widths)

Once you have finished painting all the sides, inside and outside – let it dry for 10 minutes at least.

Now my son brings me all the cars he doesnt want and the broken parts too (which were supposed to be thrown away after the clean up)

Once you have all your junk together, just try to put on the frame to see how it’s gonna look and its easier to move around if you are not happy with the look..

And then with the help of a glue gun (recommended) or a super glue (heavy duty for wood, metal, plastics) stick your items to the frame

Of course i choose the pics for the frame with a similar theme..

Done – Hung on his wall in his room!

DIY at home with KIDS

For whatever reason, we always want to sit down with our kids around and do some art and craft even more during their  summer holidays, and to avoid the heat outdoors…

Here’s something that will keep them indoors and keep them busy for a while.

Its quick , simple and easy..
Things needed : scissors, scotch tape, scale, glue gun, double sided tape (transparent), a pen or a pencil, old magazines, cans to recycle and some beads for decoration
  1. Take a empty used can of any kind
  2. Cut equal strips from any old (colorful) magazine
  3. Cover the base with one of the strip all around the can with the help of double sided tape
  4. Take a pen or a pencil and roll the cut pieces of paper strips to get tubes, stick the roll with a tiny scotch tape.
  5. Then glue the paper tube to the can with the help of theh glue gun, repeat all around untill all full
  6. Viola! done – to make it a bit more attractive – decorate the rim with any beads (any color or shape)
  7. And you have just made a holder for your various stationary items..

Human Feelings as Drugs

For a long time now, I have witnessed thatpeople in general tend to suppress their basic emotions – which is odd considering its emotions that make us who we are.

However those feelings of basic dealings, encouragement, happiness, welfare, health and mostly importantly feeling loved and security should be expressed openly and without any hesitation or shame. But our forced lifestyles, overly committed social gatherings, high stress levels at work, and”I am busy for nothing”attitude leads us to look for recovery using various drugs, painkillers, anti-depressants, vitamins and so on..

Of course in this time and age, the marketplace offers us a wide range of meds in order for people to feel better and recover from the sicknesses, disorders, disabilities or complaints and their related symptoms…. London-based photographer Valerio Loi created human feelings in medicine, and displays it in a set of new images titled Human Feelings as Drugs. Very colorful bottles with descriptive labels of each emotion.

Hope these series of alternative medicines which contain concentrated amounts of human feelings and ways of interaction, really work and fulfill our lack of gratification on a divine level.

This works or not, but definitely their will remind us that sometimes we just need Love, Hope, Empathy, Joy and Peace to lead a Healthier and Happier Life.

Empathy – Empathy is the ability of blurring the line between self and other

Hope – Hope is the feeling of expectation for a certain thing to happen

Joy – Joy is a state of well-being characterized by positive and pleasant emotions

Love – Love is an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment

Peace – Peace is a state of mental and spiritual serenity and calmness.

I would be so thrilled to find these on the shelves of the pharmacies, hypermarkets, departmental stores and I think they would also make great gifts to buy and share with others.

To start with just these five would seem very little but a lot of time and efforts are put into it to make it work…

“Feelings do not grow old along with the body. Feelings form part of a world I don’t know, but it’s a world where there’s no time, so space, no frontiers.” – Paulo Coelho

My Recycled Decopatched Tissue Box

It feels nice, when some people remember small details about you NOT  because you always remind them but JUST because they care.

So a friend of mine, was kind enough to get me the Decoupage stuff I have been talking about and so terribly wanting to go out and buy, but somehow I keep postponing it…

Well! Guess what?  I have loads of it now and yesterday I made this – do tell me what you think about it. (If you move the cursor on the pictures in the given order – it gives you a brief description)

I started out with an empty tissue box (had to initiate my recycling as well as creativity).. Thanks B…..

“Must Recycle”

I normally do not post about events happening in Kuwait cox I believe the news gets around anyway however, if someone would benefit or make a suggestion to me about posting it – I WOULD!

I have always had a hard time throwing stuff out, esp if I feel it can be reused or recycled – but the matter of the fact is, do I get around doing anything about it? Hmnnnn – NOPE!

However, after having attended RESUSE 5.0 last month at the ACK at Mishref which was geared towards eco-friendly living, I am more inclined towards actually reusing my stuff or rather UPCYCLING and if not then maybe recycling or at least contribute and help others who take the initiative to do so.

Hope I can recycle some of my old stored stuff too this month and post pictures soon..

So people if you guys have any OLD CD’s or WIRELESS phones (that is old phones not in use) you can drop them off at 360 Mall on Friday, 11th May 2012 and help save the environment. I know I have loads to drop….

A few pictures from RESUSE 5.0 last month, since I wasn’t carrying my Canon, I was so impressed that I just had to take a few clicks…. Enjoy it and Don’t forget to drop in your unused CD’s and cellphones… Remember every CD counts !!

Happy Easter

I found this very interesting and inspiring article and I was fascinated to read more on it. Hence, I thougth it was worth sharing.

It all began in his childhood (around 1945) Volker Kraft saw a beautiful paschal decorated tree in his home town. So he wanted a tree like this. Kraft’s apple sapling sported just 18 eggs when he first decorated it for Easter in 1965. The Kraft family has been decorating their tree for Easter for more than forty years now. The number increased year by year; and by last year, the sturdy tree was festooned with 9,800 eggs, artfully decorated with everything from sequins to sea shells. This time, Kraft has reached 10,000 – and he says he’s stopping there

This is another example of making you dreams come true if you are truly determined to do so… nothing is impossible if you stick to it and deep in your heart you know you can do it.

Don’t you think this is just beautiful !! You can find the whole history on this at

Day 3 of 7 Celebrate!

Day Three – more than one reason to Celebrate today !!

I have to admit, when I started my blog a year ago on 7th March 2011, I wasn’t sure what I would do with it or if I would even have something to share and keep it going for this long, but today I can truly say “There are two mistakes one can make along the road – not going all the way and not starting ~Buddha~”.  I would like thank some of my real close people who have always made the time to stop by here and to the few subscribers that I have, who have also expressed they thoughts and opinions in a very positive way. So Happy One year Anniversary to my Blog!

Now that we have got that out of the way. Today reminds me of another quote: “In our lives there is a simple colour, as on an artist’s palatte, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the colour of love.”

So here’s wishing everyone a Loving, Colourful and Blessed Holi!

I have used the Splash Painting Technique – its one messy way to paint unless you have all your area covered nicely!! But lots of fun splashing various colours just to get the right effect.. Since it is my first time at this I used an 18” rectangle canvas with lots of Acrylic paints and a toothbrush, which is more useful for this technique than a paint brush… and (cuttings of Ek Onkar and Ganeshji are from some old weddings invitations cards lying at home and to give the ethnic look I put in the little silver piece and around it a few of my fav stick on stones..

And another reason to celebrate today is the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’s DAY!

Margaret Thatcher
“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman”.

Having said that it’s not about acting or being superior to the other gender. It is not about who can cook better, who can do the dishes first, who can earn more or even who knows how to change the diaper competently but it’s about recognizing the importance and the capabilities of the Women these days, and giving them the credit they truly deserve!!
