The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

I finally got to watch the much-awaited British comedy/ drama movie “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”

It’s nice to see such wonderful passionate actors in a different light – the story revolves around a disparate group of English retirees, who abandon they homeland to look forward to a much deserved, much awaited and seemingly luxurious vacation in Jaipur, India. As usual in our good old India – nothing is as promised, becox the so called seeming lavish hotel is badly in need of repair.

However disappointed (phones not working, no doors, birds in the room, constant leaking of the taps) and however troubled (spicy meals) they seem, somehow time seems to heal and provide comfort to all the seven British pensioners.

The characters are quite colorful, especially Judi Dench as a widow in financial straits after her husband’s death and the loyal if unhappily married husband (sweet and funny) and his perpetually dissatisfied wife (uff!). Not to forget the enthusiastic attitude of the hotel’s manager Sunny (Dev Patel), the entrepreneur behind the whole mess. (who doesnt want to give up his dream rather his father’s dream also inspite of his mothers persuasive nature for him to move to Delhi.

The moral of the story is – Everyone knows to love. Everyone knows its ok to dream and Everyone knows when to let go of things that no longer belong to you. Lovely soundtracks and it has one of the best quotes I’ve heard in some time – “Everything will be all right in the end. So if it is not all right, then it is not yet the end”

A quick sneak peak : http://www.imdb.com/rg/s/4/title/tt1412386/#lb-vi929996313

Enjoy! 🙂

Nothing lasts forever!

“Everything in life is temporary because everything changes, that’s why it takes great courage to LOVE, knowing it might END anytime, but having the FAITH that it will LAST FOREVER!

Sometimes no matter how much WE love someone,WE can not take away their pain…. each of us has a journey to travel…. all WE can do is LOVE them with DIVINE LOVE and COMPASSION and Pray for Comfort and Peace in their Heart.

Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything we possibly can because that may be the ONLY time in our life we will EVER have that experience..”

Happy 1st of May

Good  Morning Everyone ,

80% of the time we think about the past and almost 15% of the time we worry about the future. This as a result drains our energy and we are only left with 5% of the present which neither of us appreciate it nor we can enjoy it rather we just seem to forget about it.

So Pick the day. Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present – and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future.

Easier said then done – but worth a try!!

Have a Dusty Sunny Day!!

Good Morning!

I don’t know who’s been slower my computer or me .. 🙂 I thought I could use some time off to restore, refresh, recharge but it’s never enough and no matter how long you take a break from one thing, it leaves you back logged on a lot of other important issues/ stuff that you should actually be focusing on – I guess it’s time to catch up..  In short, keep moving on, don’t stop, let go, it’s no one else’s loss!

Whatever it is you or me are going through – all of it, “this moment will be just another story someday”.

So don’t let the trivial things of today weigh down your tomorrow just like it did yesterday…

Very often we get so DAMN involved in OUR own destination that we overlook to value the journey especially the kindness of the people we meet on the way. To understand and to appreciate is always overwhelming. Don’t ignore or postpone anyone or anything that needs your attention unless it’s going to kill you !!!!!

Day 3 of 7 Celebrate!

Day Three – more than one reason to Celebrate today !!

I have to admit, when I started my blog a year ago on 7th March 2011, I wasn’t sure what I would do with it or if I would even have something to share and keep it going for this long, but today I can truly say “There are two mistakes one can make along the road – not going all the way and not starting ~Buddha~”.  I would like thank some of my real close people who have always made the time to stop by here and to the few subscribers that I have, who have also expressed they thoughts and opinions in a very positive way. So Happy One year Anniversary to my Blog!

Now that we have got that out of the way. Today reminds me of another quote: “In our lives there is a simple colour, as on an artist’s palatte, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the colour of love.”

So here’s wishing everyone a Loving, Colourful and Blessed Holi!

I have used the Splash Painting Technique – its one messy way to paint unless you have all your area covered nicely!! But lots of fun splashing various colours just to get the right effect.. Since it is my first time at this I used an 18” rectangle canvas with lots of Acrylic paints and a toothbrush, which is more useful for this technique than a paint brush… and (cuttings of Ek Onkar and Ganeshji are from some old weddings invitations cards lying at home and to give the ethnic look I put in the little silver piece and around it a few of my fav stick on stones..

And another reason to celebrate today is the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’s DAY!

Margaret Thatcher
“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman”.

Having said that it’s not about acting or being superior to the other gender. It is not about who can cook better, who can do the dishes first, who can earn more or even who knows how to change the diaper competently but it’s about recognizing the importance and the capabilities of the Women these days, and giving them the credit they truly deserve!!

Day 2 of 7 Small Art

Day Two – Cork Top Bottle 6-3/4″ tall 4.01oz

Although this is not a lot of work but I call it as Small Art. Small art that can make a big difference and this way your creativity of the day is done and you can go to bed at a decent hour too!!

As the saying goes : “The more minimal the art, the more maximum the explanation”.

I have painted all the four sides with the same pattern, stuck four tiny stick on stones and wrapped a length of raffia strings around the neck of the bottle (from my recycle stock).

And Voila!!

Next time u hear “I am Busy”

How many of you have the privilege of being a member of this very Exclusive Club …

Well let me tell you something If you let something slide, it’s because it wasn’t a priority, not because you were busy.”

And here’s additional reality check: because we’re all busy, no one genuinely cares about how busy anyone is? We all make time for what seems important or matters to us.

Too busy, always late – people who matter to you will let it pass by for a while. If you want to really connect despite being busy then you have to respect their needs and time as much as your own. Or else you are better off with the kind of people who are fine with that low level of effort and attention.

The rules for dealing with being “so busy” are pretty simple:

  • Stop being busy: If you are busy at work and it prevents you to do something else you want to, then stop being busy, it’s not rocket science!!
  • Stop whining and enjoy it: Busy people tend to do more, not less so enjoy it – it won’t last forever —however, being “so busy” that you become overwhelmed doesn’t help anyone.
  • Refresh: Before you end up with your own problem of being too busy, take a coffee break, go for a long walk, stop for a healthy snack, laze around for an hour or so.. And then get ready for the Busy-ness.

The more I actually write about this I realize how awful it sounds to complain about your workload and act as though you are the victim of the number of commitments in your Life!

So people, I think it is beautiful to be busy and I guess that’s our ultimate goal not to just waste way our life but keep ourselves occupied at all times, keep trying new things, learning new stuff, handling new situations, accepting new challenges etc. After all “Life is too short”. But I am getting a bit bored of hearing the constant excuse of “I am busy” for not achieving your deadlines or getting things done as a “Get out of Jail Free Card”.

Because sometimes that can make you look like a totally dyed-in-the-wool, out of your mind, highflyer…

Also, the difference between some people is for instance – some people are busy with things they love vs. people busy with obligations. So Stop and examine what you are doing and eliminate appropriately!

Because guess what: we all are busy !!!

Warm Thoughts on a Cold Day

Hello People, as you can see I haven’t posted anything for a week now, just been under the weather trying to stay warm and chilling away the time.

Everyone seems to be talking about the climate change and updating they status to “what a beautiful weather it is” and not the kind we experience in this part of the world very often.

So I am ready to start off with my new day with my hot cuppa and I am thankful for this moment, this moment that should not be taken for granted, each day has its good start and bad start, but most of all it’s how you look at it and what you make of it.

The best thing about today is that it not Friday that is gone and it’s not Sunday which we don’t know what it will bring – Its Saturday!! We live for the moment. We cannot run behind what had already happened and we cannot stop from what will eventually happen that lies ahead of us.

So here is the chance, to have warm coffee with old friends or make new friends. Cherish something old from the closet or refresh yourself with something new – go shopping. Decide on something that has been lingering on so far till 21st Jan… Its Saturday – plan a BBQ… snuggle and watch a movie with your kids, bake with your kids, (as for me have to teach my son – not so fun for him…) Live with this attitude and make the most of it with a crisp mind. And if you know someone you is not well, call them and ask them if they need anything or even better surprise them with a take away soup. It all counts at the end of the day and makes it worth it…

“Just one life, soon it will pass, only what’s done today will last”
